Dear Friends of Rockville Chess Club,
At the Rockville Chess Club, we believe that chess is more than just a game; it is a powerful tool for building essential life skills such as strategic planning, concentration, and resilience.
We are currently raising funds to sponsor club membership fees for underserved members and to expand our youth coaching programs. Your support directly empowers our students by fostering critical thinking, focus, and patience. Specifically, your contributions help us provide necessary equipment like boards and clocks.
Every donation keeps our weekly ladder and monthly tournaments free, open, and accessible to players of all skill levels and backgrounds. Whether you are able to give $5 or $50, please know that 100% of your tax-deductible contribution goes directly toward building a stronger, more inclusive chess community.
Help us empower the next generation of strategists and grow the local game by making a donation today through:

Thank you for your continued support and for helping us make chess accessible to everyone in our community.
Thank You! 🙏

Rockville Chess Club New Location- Temporary
Dear members and Chess Lovers,
As I mentioned before, the Rockville Science Center and the Rockville Chess Club will be moving from our current location. The RCC found a temporary place in the basement of the Rockville United Methodist Church located at 112 West Montgomery Avenue, Rockville, MD 20850, just a few block’s away. June 1st will be our first meet up at the new place. This place is a big bigger than our current location. There will be free parking.
Feel free to contact me if you need more info.
We are a small group of chess enthusiasts that gather regularly to learn and play. We welcome players of all levels ranging from beginners to masters and all age ranges.
Our mission is to create a welcoming environment for all chess players and promote growth and collaboration.
You can find us at the Rockville Science Center, located in 36C Maryland Ave, Rockville, MD every Monday from 6.30pm to 9:30pm.
We hope to uplift the playing strength of everyone who comes by. We help all our players play in USCF-rated events which we hope to organize regularly on a cost-recovery basis.
We value respectful dialogue and a spirit of mutual growth in all players within our club.
FM Luke Wong has been leading weekly analysis sessions on Mondays and Fridays at the Rockville Science Center. We have been conducting a series of classical quads every month since the past two years.
During fall 2022 and summer 2023, a group of us visited New York City on a chess pilgrimage. We played the hustlers at the Washington Square Park and Union Square, visited Marshall Chess Club and the Chess Forum, a shop that specializes in chess supplies.
This is where the Rockville Chess Club meets!
You can join our WhatsApp group to learn about FM Luke's free lessons and our USCF-rated tournaments. For our tournaments, to cover costs of room rentals, trophies/medals, and USCF submissions, we kindly request a $10 donation.
