Purpose
We are a small group of chess enthusiasts that gather regularly to learn and play. We welcome players of all levels ranging from beginners to masters and all age ranges.
Our mission is to create a welcoming environment for all chess players and promote growth and collaboration.
You can find us at the Rockville Science Center, located in 36C Maryland Ave, Rockville, MD every Monday from 6.30pm to 9:30pm.
We hope to uplift the playing strength of everyone who comes by. We help all our players play in USCF-rated events which we hope to organize regularly on a cost-recovery basis.
We value respectful dialogue and a spirit of mutual growth in all players within our club.
Club Activities in Review
FM Luke Wong has been leading weekly analysis sessions on Mondays and Fridays at the Rockville Science Center. We have been conducting a series of classical quads every month since the past two years.
During fall 2022 and summer 2023, a group of us visited New York City on a chess pilgrimage. We played the hustlers at the Washington Square Park and Union Square, visited Marshall Chess Club and the Chess Forum, a shop that specializes in chess supplies.
